Nagoya Chikusa Ward was crowded as a downtown area of Nagoya since ancient times. There is “Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens” in the eastern part of such Chikusa district. Its origin is 1890 and it was in 1937 that it was relocated to Higashiyama Park. At that time it was called “The Greatest Zoological Garden in the Orient”.
