Yasaka Shrine, Kyoto – Letters from Japan

Originally known as Gion Shrine, Yasaka Shrine dates back to the 7th century, 150 years before the Heian Period. Yasaka Shrine is located in eastern Kyoto – at the end of the Shijo Dori in the Gion District. You can either take the Keihan Line to Gion-Shijo or take the number 100 or 206 bus from Kyoto Station (Get off at Gion Station).
