Cherry blossoms at their peak! If you’ve never seen them up close at the height of their beauty, then THIS is the video to see. Maizuru Koen in Fukuoka is one of the greatest sakura areas in western Japan and it never fails to amaze.
The park covers the area that Fukuoka Castle used to occupy. Now there are only the castle moat, some walls and stone remains. But the view over the western part of the city is still excellent and the area is most of the time very tranquil and relaxing.
Also close by is the Heiwadai Stadium and the Korokan Historical Museum, where you can view the remains of guest houses for Chinese diplomats used for 4 centuries until the 11th Century.
