Jefferson Graham and Ginni McNeely (@losangelesgrammers, Instagram) bring the Photowalk cameras into the normally closed “Sunken City” trail in San Pedro.
On a day when the gates were wide open, they got to explore the area where a 1929 landslide sent homes crashing down a hill, and has since become a hidden, favorite spot with the online crowd. There’s a Facebook fan page, nearly 50,000 “Sunken City” hashtags and even a Yelp review site.
The Sunken City trail is at the end of Point Fermin Park, directly across from the vintage biker hangout Walker’s Cafe.

The #Photowalks series is all about bringing viewers to cool places in the Southern California (and elsewhere) area in search of the best photo spots to light up your social media, and to show how, when and where to get them.
Past #Photowalk episodes include visits to Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Balboa Island, the Griffith Observatory and Venice Beach. We went outside the area to trek to Pismo Beach, a road trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Tokyo and Kauai.
