Aomori city in the very north of Honshu main island and just under Hokkaido has one of the most impressive traditional Japanese Festivals, the NEBUTA happening at beginning of August and featuring huge 3D paper figures lit from inside and carried on floats throughout the city. In winter they have this very naive and cute version featuring small figures lit up from inside and designed by the local people, designed by kids and family, not the professional Nebuta craftsmen. And so the small Nebuta shining in the white snow will look very different and beautiful depending on the effort of the creator.
