Video recorded in beginning of May, 2016. We took a day trip to visit Omi-Maiko beach on Lake Biwa, only an hour away from Osaka.

Omi-Maiko Beach (近江舞子)
Lake Biwa (or Biwa-ko) doesn’t really feel like a lake, because it is huge. It’s the largest freshwater lake in Japan. Omi-Maiko is Lake Biwa’s most accessible and popular beach, located very close to the station. If you visit in the summer the beach can get crowded on public holidays and weekends. But if you’re like us crazy Swedes and visit before the season has even started – the beach will be yours to enjoy! However, if you’re not visiting during holiday season, be sure to bring some food with you because most of the shops will be closed. Since Omi-Maiko is not a very populated area.
Omi-Maiko beach is a great place to visit if you want a quiet place to explore and to relax in the sun. So peaceful and relaxing. I highly recommend it if you need a break from town! ❤️
