13 September 2019 – Day 22 – Osaka to Kyoto

VLOG 284

This morning we leave Osaka and say goodbye to obaachan as she drops us off at the station to head to our next destination -Kyoto!! 🚂🏮

Just an short train ride away we arrive just after midday and check into our hostel. Our activity for this afternoon is to checkout one of Tokyo’s Most visited temples – Kiyomizu-Dera Temple! The temple meaning “Pure Water Temple” sits on the wooded hills east of Kyoto and was added to the UNESCO world heritage sites in 1994. ⛩

This temple is known for the wooden structure that sits outside its main hall which offers a view of the site and the city. We stroll through the city and see people dressed up in Yukata 🎎. Would have been a fun thing to do for this temple if we had to the (and the money) to rent these beautiful Japanese garment but I guess it’ll have to be for another time.

We end the night at the busy night strips of Kyoto in the narrow food halls filled with people, lanterns and the taste of delicious food. We have the famous Omurice at Kichi Kichi where a super soft egg balloon is cut on top of fried rice. The novelty was well worth the 2 hour wait plus the chef was super entertaining and friendly! We then head back to the hostel with full stomachs as that ends our first night here in Kyoto!! 🏮🍳🍛 🏮
