It is terminal station of Keihan Electric Railway and starting station of Eizan Electric Railway (Eiden).
There is Demachi-Masugata Shopping street across Kamo rive from Demachiyanagi station.
Demachiyanagi Station is convenient for the Imperial Palace grounds, Kyoto University, Doshisha University and Shimogamo shrine (World Heritage Site).
