Budapest’s shopping street (Váci Utca) and Vörösmarty Square (Vörösmarty Tér) are ones of the top attractions for visitors in Budapest, Hungary, a city boasting over 11 million tourists a year.

Vaci Street features a wide variety of shops and restaurants mostly for tourists. According to some statistics, Vaci Street has been classified as one of the most attractive shopping streets in the world with an honorable 7th position. Along the street, you can see the shops of famous retailers such as H&M, Zara, Mango, Office Shoes, Hugo Boss, Nike, etc. The price of the retailers here are not higher than in other shops in Budapest, yet the restaurants and small, unbranded shops are pretty much unaffordable to the average Hungarian.

Vaci Street starts at Vörösmarty Square – a historic square of Budapest that was recently renovated. Situated just a few minuted walk from the Danube, the square bears the name of Mihály Vörösmarty, a romantic poet in the Reform Era. The square hosts several retailer shops such as Breshka, CCC, and more. In my video, you can also see Gerbeaud Cafe & Confectionery, the big white building in the north part of the square. Don’t miss that if you want to taste the most delicious cakes and pastries in Budapest!

In winter, before and during Christmas, Vörösmarty Tér hosts one of the most beautiful Christmas fairs in Europe. In 2019 it was nominated as the most beautiful and appealing one!

It´s worth mentioning that the square is the starting point of the oldest tube line in continental Europe (In Hungarian it is called Kisföldalatti), dating back to the 19th century. The underground line links Vörösmarty Tér to Városliget (The City Park) and Heroes Square (Hősök tere).

You can watch my video at Heroes Square here: and stay tuned for more!

I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour and I cant wait to show you more of Hungary and not only!
