Listen up, Men Mitsui might be the one shop closest to get a Michelin Star next. And yet, this incredible ramen shop does not yet have long lines that make you go insane, plus it is easily accessible in Asakusa. Now is the right time to visit this ramen store, before the tourist masses discover it. And trust me, you won’t be disappointed by the Michelin recommended ramen bowls of Men Mitsui.

Men Mitsui offers shoyu ramen and shio ramen, but is probably best known for the shoyu ramen bowl. In addition, you can select between thin noodles and thick wavy noodles. My clear recommendation is to go for the thick and wavy noodles for your first visit. They get hand massaged before they enter the boiling water, for exactly 2 minutes and 11 seconds. This is the level of detail you can taste with every bite, every slurp.

The broth is made from chicken with a fair amount of chicken oil floating on top. Perfectly balanced with the rich and yet light flavors of the broth, laced with other secret ingredients that only the owner of Men Mitsui would know about. The soup is spectacular, absolutely outstanding and very addicting.

The toppings are as close to perfection as you can get. Perfect chashu with a searing finish. Pork roast slices that don’t overpower the delicate soup with heavy marinade flavors. Juicy and delicate. Well balanced, as all things should be.

Men Mitsui is one of the few not overrun places in Asakusa. This will not stay this way, once ramen fans from all over the world discover it. Get there while you can and enjoy their incredible ramen bowls.
