This is a video of me flying with Cathay Pacific from London Heathrow to Hong Kong in Premium Economy for Christmas on a Boeing B777-300ER. I arrived at Terminal 3 of the London Heathrow Airport and immediately proceeded to check in my baggage. My suitcase was so full of Christmas goodies that it was actually too heavy for the baggage handling system! Apparently, the system at Heathrow can only accept individual items no heavier than 32 kg. As a result, I had to remove a few items and hand carry them before I could check in my suitcase. But no matter, I also got a free upgrade to Premium Economy!
I cleared security via the Fast Track and headed to the lounge. The Noodle Bar served BBQ Pork Noodles in addition to the usual Dan Dan Mien, so I tried something new for once. When it was time to board, I had to walk 10 minutes to the far away Gate 40 at the other end of the terminal. But still, I was one of the first to board the plane.
I was assigned a bulkhead aisle seat 32H, which is normally reserved for passengers with babies. I had more legroom than I needed and I did not have to worry about anyone reclining into me. I drank a cup of orange juice as a welcome drink before the plane taxied to the runway for take off.
The Entertainment System was a bit unresponsive this time. I tried to have my usual overview of the system, but it froze after I opened the flight map. I had to ask a member of the cabin crew to restart the system before I could finish. Fortunately, I did not experience any more problems afterwards.
I had a steak dinner on this flight, a medium rare tenderloin steak served with Spanish Bodegas red wine. Personally, I prefer my steaks medium well, but what about you? Please leave a comment below. After I have finished my steak, I had some chocolate, vanilla ice cream and some in-house Betsy Pale Ale.
I slept comfortably for 4 hours before waking up to brush my teeth. I chose the Chinese option for breakfast, which is pork meatball congee. A crew member took my congee away because she thought it had gone cold, so I ate the fruit and croissant while she reheated the congee for me. How thoughtful of her.
I landed in Hong Kong late in the afternoon shortly after breakfast, after clearing immigration, getting my baggage and clearing customs, I took the Airport Express into town to begin my holiday.
