Tsukiji fish market – Japanese street food and tuna cutting

Tsukiji’s inner market closed on 6 October 2018 and relocated to Toyosu. However, the outer market remains, still teeming with street food vendors and various shops.

Amidst the friendly people, we discover all the greatest hits of Japanese street food — takoyaki, abalone (awabi), crab leg, daifuku, and lastly we end at Maguroya Kokugin Tsukiji Honten, where we try the three different types of tuna.

To get to Tsukiji:

Take the Yamanote line to Shimbashi, from there take the underway pass to reach Tsukiji and walk the rest of the way.
