Philippines is one of my favourite travel destinations. I’ve visited Cebu no less than four times within four years. I not only visit Cebu, but have explored the major tourist locations including Bohol, Panglao, Malapascua, Moalboal. Traveling to Cebu is convenient because are there several direct flights from Seoul. Mactan airport and Cebu City is a great hub from which to visit Cebu City and other Filipino islands, too. My late January visit coincided with the famous Sinulog festival, complete with Sinulog festival music and sinulog street food. For a solo female backpacker, this was the perfect way to start my travels in the Visayas.

I’ve traveled with Air Asia from Incheon Seoul a few times now, and I love that several airlines now make visiting Cebu Mactan and Cebu City very convenient. There’s lots to see in Cebu City.

In this video, I travel to Cebu Mactan international airport from Incheon Seoul, S. Korea. The airport was quiet and calm despite the beginning of the Seollal (lunar new year) period celebrated in Korea. After a smooth check-in and a bite to eat at Kervan Halal restaurant located at the Incheon food court, I embarked on my flight and after four hours, landed in Mactan international airport, Cebu.

I had reserved an overnight stay with Murals Mactan Hostel located in Lapu-Lapu City. The following morning, Murals staff found a habal habal (motorbike) driver to transport me to Mandaue where I would meet my friend Ollie, and from there, travel down to Santo Nino Church to enjoy the Sinulog festivities in the old city of Cebu!

The next video features the 2020 sinulog festival celebrations by Santo More coming soon!
