On October 27th 2019, at 11am I walked around and say a small shrine called Rokkakudo temple.

Rokkakudo temple location: 248 Donomaecho, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, 604-8134, Japan

11:12am super hungry and saw A Happy Pancake (breakfast place). Waited 45 min in total and it was worth it! The classic pancake I got was super delicious and fluffy. Cost 1100 yen. They have several locations in Japan.

12:30 to 1:10pm Walked around Nishiki Market. I noticed that Kyoto has cheaper things than Tokyo.

1:10 started to walk to Nijo Castle. About 25 min walk if I walk non-stop but I probs took longer than that to look around. In my entire Japan trip I never had to walk more than 30 min at one time. I always took breaks.

1:46 arrive at Nijo Castle. There is only one entrance and you have to pay 1030 yen admission fee.

The castle was big and very historical. I had to find the washroom inside and it was a big stinky. I saw a lot of middle schoolers, guess they were on a field trip. I didn’t get much nice pictures, people that I asked took bad pics. Some parts of the castle was under construction, I think a lot of touristy sites are under construction to prepare for the influx of tourist during olympics. When I got near the end I ask this girl to take a pic of me and she was from HK. I started to talk to her and we walked around the castle a bit more before I split apart. We exchanged contacts and will meet up tomorrow again.

3:50 left Nijo castle to walk to closet JR station (Nijo Station). About 11 min walk to station. From that station it takes less than 15 min to get to Arashiyama Bamboo forest. At Nijo station I got Melon pan from 7-11 for 127 yen.

Nijo station to Saga Arashiyama station

Once I got off, there were a lot of signs that lead to the forest. And if you do get lost, ask one of the foreigners coming from opposite different, they probably already been and leaving.

The bamboo forest is a small path that will take only 15 min. You can also ride a rickshaw but I’m too asian cheap.

Nearby, there is a shrine, pond, etc.

5:12pm leaving the bamboo area. There is a Main Street that has a lot of kimono rentals and restaurants. The area is a tourist trap and things are expensive. I looked around but op to go back to Kyoto city centre.

On JR train and got off at Tambaguchi station. About 13 min walk to apartment. I kinda went the wrong way so I had to walk longer. By this time it was getting a bit cold and I was hungry.

I’m just going to pick a random restaurant to eat at.

6:51pm I was finally in a restaurant and taking a look at the menu.

7:07pm my sushi and udon. 1100 yen. I tried natto for the first time. It was okay but I wouldn’t go out of my way to order it.

8pm got back to apartment. rested for a bit.

9pm go for a walk. Scouting out for cheap souvenirs.

10:30pm got back to apartment.
