BREAKING NEWS – Japan False Missile Alert β Japanese Broadcaster NHK Apologizes For North Korean Missile Alert π―π΅πβ οΈ:
Japanese broadcaster, NHK, issued a false alarm regarding a North Korean missile launch over Japan on Tuesday, evening, January 16, 2018.
The message was sent out to phone users of the NHK mobile app which read, “NHK news alert. North Korea likely to have launched missile. The government J alert: evacuate inside the building or underground.”
NHK issued an apology within minutes stating, “β¦the news alert sent earlier about NK missile was a mistake. No government J alert was issued.”
Alarmingly, this is the second false missile alert in just a matter of day.
On Saturday morning January 13, 2018, an emergency alert notification was also sent out to the residents of Hawaii advising of an incoming ballistic missile threat which also turned out to be a false alarm.
The false alarm in Hawaii was reported to have been an error by an employee who pushed the wrong button.
The emergency alert in Hawaii read, “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”
The Hawaii alert was communicated on television, radio and cell phones, causing widespread panic and confusion amongst some resident. A second alert confirming a false alarm was not issued until 38 minutes later.
