No commentary here- just images from my wander around Peace Park from 7am until just before 8:15 when they had the moment of silence for the time the bomb was dropped.

It’s powerful to look at the only remaining building of the Atomic blast of 1945 while listening to the Buddhist drumming as they try to raise the earth’s power to bring peace back to our lives.

At 7pm, I returned to Peace Park to take pictures and video of the candles around the A-bomb dome decorated by elementary school children in Hiroshima schools- so many messages of hope for a more peaceful world.

Then walking over to the river to watch the colorful floating lanterns drift down the river after people write personal messages of love, loss, peace, and hope for a brighter future. The lantern ceremony is in honor of those who lost their lives on August 6th, 1945 in the Hiroshima nuclear attack.

I hope the horrible legacy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki gives future leaders pause when contemplating using nuclear weapons in war.

Even after 20 years of going to the Hiroshima Memorial Ceremony, it is always powerful and always an important reminder to live a meaningful, purposeful life of kindness and support of others.
