A “Cupnoodles Museum”! Hahahaaa!
This place in the port city of Yokohama is dedicated to the late Mr Momofuku Ando’s invention – one that played a major part in altering the course of Japan’s history, as well as the many countries that developed a fondness of the instant noodle.
It actually is a museum for the instant noodle, where THE specific invention was instant chicken ramen by Ando in 1958, but noodle-in-a-cup – a 1971 innovation – made such a big impact after some feedback from the Americans, the Japanese could’ve decided to call it “Cupnoodles Museum”, instead of “Instant Noodle Museum”.
Ando, who died at the age of 96 in 2007, was also the founder of the Nissin Food Products, which started off by selling his invention.
Among the attractions there are the hundreds of instant noodles in packets, boxes and cups, from many brands and countries.
Also, there is a big “Cup Noodles Factory” where you can “create” your own cup noodle, its packaging decoration and flavour, that you can take home in a weird balloon-slingbag.😄
