I recently became an Ambassador for Backstreet Academy, a peer-to-peer travel platform that connects curious travellers with hosts from the local community keen to showcase their culture, food and traditions. If you’re interested getting off the beaten path and away from the tourist crowds like I do in my videos, check these guys out!

Tucked with the financial district of Bangkok is a little alleyway known as Silom Soi 20, literally meaning side-street #20 off Silom Road. Here you can find authentic Thai street food amongst dozens of stalls, a local wet market and hordes of Bangkok residents looking for fresh produce or a takeaway breakfast. Food streets like these are a dime a dozen across the vast metropolitan that is Bangkok, but over time Silom Soi 20 gained fame as a tourist-friendly place to try out local street food for its quality and accessibility. If you want to try what the locals eat and get away from the tourist-packed areas such as Khao San Road, then Silom Soi 20 is the perfect place to sink your teeth into some delicious Thai street food.

How to get here:
Traffic is notoriously bad in Bangkok so avoid taxis or Grab if you can, instead take public transport like the locals do, which is surprisingly comfortable and reliable! Get off at Chong Nonsi BTS station and head north to the main Silom Road. Then continue west until you find Silom Soi 20 on your right hand side, which is about a 10 minute walk.
