From Kotohira to Uchiko is a nice trip for train lovers.
In Uchiko 内子, which flourished about 150 years ago as a post station, is a 600-meter long row of white plaster walls, storehouses with thick earthen walls, and other buildings dating from the area’s heyday. At inns made of old residences that were transported and reconstructed in new locations, guests can dine on cuisine made with plenty of fresh local ingredients, including stewed vegetables, wild vegetable tempura, and freshly caught fish.
