The National Museum of Japanese History is located approximately at 30 minutes by train from Narita Airport, in Sakura city, Chiba Prefecture. In this museum are displayed official documents and different goods of Japanese history. From the late 1950s to the 1970s, Japan experienced an economical boom called “high economic growth period”. In the period people moved from mountain villages to cities, where “Danchi” (2DK housing complexes) were built. In this museum, there is an exhibition where is possible to learn more about how was life in “Danchi”. Visitors often feel norstalgic! Behind the powerful Japanese economy, people living in those small apartments had big dreams.
There are plenty of interesting exhibitions, so they can not be seen just in one day. There are also lending audio guides for foreigners, so why not try to visit this representative museum of Japan?
