I’ve wanted to visit Croatia for a while, heard so much good things about the Dalmatian Coast. But unfortunately the trains don’t easily go there, and I’d have to backtrack which I didn’t want to do on with my 30 day Eurail pass to maximize the places I could visit.

I arrived in Zagreb, walked to the Sheraton which was near the train station, checked in and was happily surprised to get upgraded to a nice suite. I was just there one night unfortunately, then moving to the Hotel Dubrovnik for two nights. The Hotel Dubrovnik is a very nice hotel, and has the perfect location right next to the main square. I was so convenient to stay close to all the action, I could open my window and see the markets and all the people hanging out in the square.

I made my way to the Zagreb Tourist office to pick up my Zagreb Card, which includes free public transportation, free admission to several attractions including the Zagreb 360 viewing deck. Thanks again to the Zagreb Tourist Board for setting me up with the Zagreb Card!

I wandered around the city, saw a lot of great architecture, had some good food, saw some local markets. I also met up with a bunch of people on Couchsurfing, there’s a very active community in Zagreb. We toured around the city with some locals, had some great food and drinks, saw some live music, such a great time!

Sadly my three nights in Zagreb came to an end quickly and it was time to take the train to Belgrade.
