► I recently went on my first ever trip to Sapporo on Hokkaido, Japans most northern island. Located approximately 1000 kilometers north of Tokyo, it is about 20 degrees celsius colder than Tokyo this time of year.
My first place to visit there was Hokkaido Jingu – a major Shinto shrine located in Maruyama Park, Sapporo. It is one of few shrines on Hokkaido, and by far the biggest.
It was founded in 1870, destroyed by a fire in 1974, to be rebuild in 1978, which is the version that stands today. Easy access from Sapporo Station by Nanboku and Tozai Lines. – Enjoy!
