Fuugetsu Ichiba shop.
This classic chain okonomiyaki restaurant has been in business for over 60 years. Anytime you go, wherever shop you visit, it’s guaranteed you’ll get some delicious okonomiyaki. Today, we visited the Ichiba shop, near Tsuruhashi station.
Every seat you take here at Fuugetsu has an iron plate. When you order, the staff will cook the food on the plate in front of you.
We ordered some grilled “geso “, or squid legs, and grilled oysters. Since this shop is close to a fish market, the seafood you eat here is super fresh. See how plump the oysters are!
Then, a buta-tama, or pork okonomiyaki is cooked in front of you. Make sure you leave the cooking up to the staff til the very end, the staff at fugetsu takes their okonomiyaki cooking seriously, and they’ll politely ask you not to mess with the food until they say so.
We also had the mixed okonomiyaki. In addition to the pork, the mixed okonomiyaki has seafood in it. We also ordered some cheese toppings too.
A generous amount of mayonnaise is put on the two finished okonomiyakis. On top of that, here comes the sauce. Both the mayo and the sauce here are homemade. Personally, I love the flavor of the grilled sauce that spilled off from the okonomiyaki.
Fuugetsu. The must-try mega chain that you’ll never forget.
