Our second day in Kyoto was spent exploring several of the many shrines and temples. We started off with a hike through the 1000’s of torii gates at Fushimi Inari. Walking through there was like nothing we had ever done. From there we explored another shrine or temple of sorts, a sake brewery museum! The Gekkeikan Brewery provided an interesting look into the making of sake and we got to try a few which is always the best part of a brewery tour! In the afternoon we wandered the beautiful grounds of Ginkaku-ji while marveling at the silver pavilion there before making our way to the nearby Philosopher’s Path to continue our peaceful afternoon. To close out our busy day we got to experience the nighttime fall color illumination at Kiyomizu-dera and gaze out over the stunning skyline of Kyoto from the temple’s large front porch.
