Shomyo-ji Temple is one of the most famous temples from the Kamakura Era. It was established in 1258 as a family temple of Hojo Sanetoki, one of the major clans of the Kamakura Shogunate.
The beautiful Jodo-style garden, having a lake and a red arched bridge over it, expresses the ‘Land of Perfect Bliss’ in Buddhism. The bridge connects the world of Buddha with our human world.
