Karuizawa is located across Nagano Prefecture and Gunma Prefecture, and is divided into “Karuizawa” and “Kita Karuizawa” areas. The Shiraito Highland Way connects the two locations. “Shiraito no Taki” (Shiraito Waterfall) is on the eastern foot of Asama Volcano, along that road. The source of Shiraito Waterfall is an abundant amount of spring water that springs from the basement and rock surface. It is an artificial waterfall made using that water.
In general, the source of a waterfall does not always look beautiful because it becomes cloudy or temporarily increases when it rains. On that point, Shiraito Waterfall is not affected by rain and always maintains high transparency.
