Nar Phu Valley Trek in Nepal is a spectacular and off-the-beaten track which lies in between two massive Himalayan mountain ranges – Manaslu Himalayan range and Annapurna Himalayan range. It is one of the best locations for trekking in the wilderness which includes the enthralling and exotic valleys of Nar and Phu gaun.
The journey starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. It is then another drive to Koto, where you start trekking towards the unspoiled valley.
After only one hour, you enter the valley and you realise you have been transported away from the civilization … it feels like you are going to a lost valley. I call it “Nar Phu: The Lost Valley”.
The valley leads you to Kangla Pass (5320m) to connect the village of Ngawal, which is the main route of Annapurna Circuit Trek. Some people continue trekking forward and manage to cross Thorang la Pass (5416m); others trek down or drive down towards Besisahar to finish their journey. We drove down to Besisahar and drove back to Kathmandu, making this trek only 10 days.
The village of Phu is incredibly beautiful, untouched, unexplored and very remote giving the feel of being in the 5th century. Words cannot fully explain its exquisite beauty. You must experience it!
The village of Nar has its modern touches – an interesting blend between 5th and 21st centuries, having both historic and modern houses and some modern looking people.
Staying at Gompa (nar phedi) is an exceptionally remarkable experience. Eating with monks and sleeping at the Gompa (monastery) gives an insight to the lives of monks for a day – we see how they live, and get to experience the peaceful existence they lead.
The unforgettable day of Kangla Pass is still ahead. Six hours of hiking uphill towards Kangla is not easy at all and once we are on the pass there is still another four hours of downhill trekking. Walking on empty is definitely a big meditation day. Anyway, we successfully made it.
We started our journey on 9th July 2018 for 10 days. Please write a comment and let me know your thoughts 🙂 Thank you for watching.
