Iglu stands for expertise, variety and value. We are the UK’s largest independent agent of ski and cruise holidays. Discover our story…

Between 1997 and 1999 internet based companies started to sprung up: it was the so called .COM boom. In 1998, passionate skier Richard Downs pioneered the idea of selling ski holidays online. Iglu.com was born.

About 52% of the companies created during the .COM boom went bust before the end of 2004, but not IgluSki, which had a clear business model: catering for an audience largely ignored.
Downs had realised that main streets’ travel agents didn’t have the knowledge to cater for niche needs: following IgluSki, IgluCruise was founded. Iglu made its first million-pound profit in 2005 and in 2012 the annual turnover was about £90 million. That same year new investors acquired a minority stake in the company.

In June 2013, Iglu acquired competitor PlanetCruise. Always in 2013 Richard Downs joins the Board of ABTA, the UK association for tour operators and travel agents. April 2017: Iglu is included by CityAm in the list of the top 100 fastest growing companies in the UK.

Iglu story continues in your best tailor-made holidays, for both ski and cruise! Bookmark our site for updates on our brands’ evolution.
