Get blissfully lost in the slower paces of Kyushu Island, the southwesternmost of Japan’s four main islands. Known for its near-tropical coastlines and natural hot springs, there are also plenty of beautiful temples, shrines and gardens to wander through. Pictured here is the tranquil Komyozen-ji Temple, Miyajidake Shrine and Yusui Garden Shimeiso (spot the koi fish!) captured by @yantastic. 📍 Kyushu is a must-visit for explorers looking to get off the beaten path. The easiest way to get there from Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto is by train using your JR pass to Fukuoka’s Hakata Station. Once you’re there, the best way to explore some of Kyushu’s hidden gems is by rental car.
