► Kairakuen is a Japanese garden located in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture. Along with Kenrokuen and Korakuen, it is considered one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. Kairakuen was built relatively recently, in the year 1841 by the local lord Tokugawa Nariaki.
While worth a visit throughout the year, Kairakuen is most attractive during the ume blossom season, which usually takes place from late February until middle of March. I am gonna show you what that looks like in this little video-tour. Also, a small peep into a “Koubuntei” – a traditional Japanese style house, situated on a hilltop in the garden. – Enjoy
