The Peace Park is also worth seeing when you visit Hiroshima. It includes the Peace Memorial Museum and the Peace Memorial Hall. The park is quite large, and we went for many walks and even managed to have some family time in the sitting on the lawn just next to the river with our small son of 2 years old, instead of just running from place to place.

Advice to families with small children: Have a half to one day with nothing schedules in each city you visit.

The ‘A-bomb dome’ ruin situated at one end of the park is a powerful monument to the destructive power of nuclear weapons (it is a little strange to see your smiley face on the picture you take in front of this place.)

The peace park is located close to the shopping arcades that includes an Andersen bakery (we are Danish so this was fun, we even met a young Danish man working there)
