If you only have time to visit one temple in Kyoto, Japan, then I would recommend you visit Kiyomizudera Temple. This beautiful temple is one of the most celebrated temples of Japan. A wooden stage that extends out from the main hall lets visitors view the beautiful trees below. In the fall, the colors are amazing. Another great viewpoint allows visitors 180 degree views of the main hall and the city of Kyoto below. The temple was founded in 780.
