Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of the most visited Shrine in Kyoto. This shrine is dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. But it’s famous for its thousands of torii gates.

The shrine is open 24 hours a day and there’s no admission fee. Due to its popular instagrammable torii gates, the place is always packed with tourist. The best time to come here is early in the morning.

This is our first time to visit this shrine and the route we’ve taken is something we didn’t plan but it turned out to be one of the best – we are able to enjoy the walk going up to the summit and see the impressive torii then go down and see the mountain side of Mt. Inari. I recommend this hike for the following reasons:
1. If you come down from the summit thru the torii gates, you’ll most probably run into more people. Lesser people take the mountain trail.
2. The mountain trail leads to some beautiful wooden forest and bamboo plantation – it has very nice scenery

Hope this helps!
