The Caribbean is more than a collection of beaches. Look to the gardens of fuchsia bougainvillea, bright fishing boats and villages of pastel rooftops.

Kate from our Hidden Beaches team filmed this footage on a recent trip, focusing on Bequia, part of St Vincent and the Grenadines. As you see in the footage, this lesser-visited corner of the Caribbean has a collection of fine beaches and coastal hotels.

But we also encourage you to get out and explore. Kate filmed her drives across the island, from the capital Port Elizabeth to the quieter town of Hamilton. Hiring a car gives you the freedom to stop off at hidden coves or marinas, or we can arrange for a guided tour if you’d like to sit back and enjoy the views.

You could also take a trip out to Tobago Cays, which you glimpse at the end of the video. This small, untouched archipelago of five islands sits within Tobago Cays Marine Park, one of the best places for snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean. You might see turtles feeding on the seagrass or shoals of silverfish flickering through the coral.

Bequia could be just the starting point in a trip across the Caribbean. Read more about multi-stop trips across the region in our Caribbean travel guide.
