Walking from Shijō Kawaramachi to Pontocho Alley in Downtown Kyoto, Japan [Night] 🎧【4K】

Kyoto (京都市) was Japan’s capital for over a thousand years, and was the center of Japanese art, religion, architecture and political power.

Although Kyoto is known for classic traditional houses, ancient shrines and temples, there’s another side of it that brings you to a modern, vibrant shopping district.

Shijō Kawaramachi (四条河原町) is the central business district in Kyoto, Japan where Shijō and Kawaramachi Streets intersect. Kawaramachi Street runs parallel to the Kamo River on the eastern side of Kyoto, while Shijō Street runs east–west through the center of the city.

Ponto-chō (先斗町) is a Hanamachi district in Kyoto, Japan, known for geiko and maiko and home to many geiko houses and traditional tea houses. Like Gion, Ponto-chō is famous for the preservation of forms of traditional architecture and entertainment.
