TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested a 58-year-old woman after she allegedly stabbed a female acquaintance in the back of the head at a luxury hotel in Shinjuku Ward on Friday night, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 11).
Aiko Kobayashi was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. following the bloody attack at a first-floor restaurant inside the Rihga Royal Hotel. She is accused of using a knife she had specifically brought to the venue to strike the victim, a woman in her 40s.
Upon her arrest on suspicion of attempted murder, Kobayashi admitted to the allegations. “There is no mistake [that I did it], but I do not remember the reason why,” the suspect told investigators.
According to police, Kobayashi was dining with the female victim and a man when the violence erupted. The targeted woman sustained severe injuries requiring an unknown recovery time, while the male companion also suffered minor injuries in the ensuing chaos.
Police are currently investigating the nature of the relationship between the trio and the circumstances that led to the sudden assault.
