Police in Kyoto Prefecture, western Japan, have failed to obtain new clues in their search for an elementary school boy who has been missing for two weeks.
Police have mobilized a total of 600 officers in the case to find 11-year-old Adachi Yuki, of Nantan City in the prefecture. Officers are continuing the search and appealing for information that may help locate the missing child.
Police say the boy’s father drove him to his elementary school on the morning of March 23, but he did not attend and disappeared.
On March 29, his school backpack was found by a relative in a mountainous area about three kilometers from the school.
The police searched an irrigation pond nearby and locations elsewhere in the city, but no new clues have since been found.
Investigators say there is no evidence the boy used public transport, such as trains or buses.
They also say no security camera footage captured his image. The boy reportedly was not carrying a mobile phone when he went missing.
Police say they have received about 230 tips since his photo was released on their website, but none have led to finding his whereabouts.
The Nantan police station is soliciting information at 0771-62-0110.
