There is a place where you can enjoy the spring of Kyoto Arashiyama, one of the top 100 cherry blossom attractions in Japan. Hoshinoya Kyoto is located inside the Okuarashiyama Valley, where aristocrats had villas 1,000 years ago.

In cherry blossom season, the area of the Dogetsu-kyo Bridge is crowded with people, but Hoshinoya Kyoto is at a quiet point about 1km away from the bridge. It will run a program to enjoy cherry blossoms on the river in a hotel-only boat until April 9th.

All the rooms have a view of the river. Through the window, you can see the cherry blossoms swaying in the wind. On the outdoor tea room Hanazakura terrace, you can spend time with cherry blossom tea while looking at the surface of the water where petals are scattered.

Kai, a traditional Ryokan brand, runs a Hanami hot spring program in each branch where you lie in a hot spring and see cherry blossoms. Tochigi Prefecture’s Kai Kinugawa and Shizuoka Prefecture’s Kai Ito and Kai Anjin have set up spring programs in different ways.

Tochigi Prefecture’s Kai Kinugawa will open the Hanami Hot Spring Program from April 6 to 20. About 30 king cherry trees are planted in front of the open-air bath in the large bath, so you can enjoy different cherry blossoms in the morning and afternoon.

Kai Ito and Kai Anjin in Shizuoka Prefecture will jointly run an open bus tour until April 5. On the second floor of a roofless bus, hotel staff will take you around famous spots such as Sakuranosato, where about 40 types of cherry trees and 1,500 cherry trees are spread out.

Japan’s only bicycle concept hotel, BEB5, Tsuchiura, will run a cherry blossom water cycle program until April 10.

You can ride a specially designed water bike directly over a 2km section of the Sakuragawa River. During riding, there is a time to rest with cherry blossom enflower macarons and warm tea.
