A foal is seen spending time with its mother at the Banei Bokujo Tokachi farm in Obihiro, Hokkaido, April 1, 2026. At the farm, a breeding and training facility for traditional Japanese draft horse racing, foals are being born one after another, reaching the peak of the birthing season. These type of horses supported the development of Hokkaido. Under the spring sun, the newborn foals spend their time nursing and walking around with their big-bodied mothers. Around 70 foals are expected to be born by mid-June. The farm will be open to visitors from April 17, allowing the public to observe the horses up close.
