I Almost Didn’t Go | My Solo Day Trip to Yokohama, Japan
Is solo travel in Japan actually fun, or is it just… lonely? After struggling with the idea of solo travel in Asia, I decided to take a day trip from the Yokohama cruise port to see if I could find a good time on my own. From quirky museums to cozy Chinatown walks, here’s what my day in Yokohama looked like as a solo female traveler.
In this video:
Yokohama Cruise Port to Cup Noodles Museum: Taking a taxi and diving into the most creative (and delicious) museum in Japan.
Shopping at Yokohama World Porters: Exploring one of the best spots for unique Japanese finds.
Cozy Rainy Walk in Yokohama Chinatown: Taking photos in the largest Chinatown in Japan—it was actually the highlight of my trip!
Solo travel is hard, and being alone in Japan for the first time has brought some unexpected challenges. But as I walked through the streets of Yokohama, I started to wonder… maybe being alone isn’t so bad after all?

Chinatown looking very atmospheric in the rain! 👍
Reall cool video. Makes me want to take a cruise there.
I’m a frequent solo traveler, Emma. It can feel overwhelming when you obviously stick out on a trip. But, folk will be curious, then leave ya alone to explore further.
If you’re sensitive to sensory overload, it’ll definitely heighten when you’re by yourself.
All natural. All normal. And I’m glad you took the time to enjoy some solo time & bring us along!
Btw, I LOVE rain! Gotta keep that rainy time in mind, if I cruise to Yokohama. 😌
