Fukuoka: Hakata Station (福岡県: 博多駅) – Japan Walking Tour

Moving from Tenjin to Hakata Station, I first picked up some “Hakata Torimon”—my family’s favorite souvenir and a small token of my journey.

Last year, I walked from Tenjin to Nakasu, but this time I decided to head there from Hakata Station. Despite the distance, I was impressed by the city’s walkability, as many others were heading in the same direction.

Stepping into Nakasu, I was met with its signature, overwhelming energy. The sight of women lining Chuo-dori to greet customers, weaving through the unsteady steps of tipsy revelers, felt like pure chaos. No matter how many times I visit, the sheer intensity of this district never ceases to amaze me—it is the raw, authentic face of the city. It was a stimulating stroll, fully immersed in Fukuoka’s vibrant night-time power.
