One person is confirmed dead while another has gone missing after a boat carrying tourists ran aground in Japan’s Kyoto Prefecture on Saturday, March 28.

The deceased victim, a 51-year-old male, has been identified as one of four crewmembers who were on the unnamed boat along with 25 passengers when the incident occurred on the Hozu River in the late morning of Saturday (local time).

According to police officials, all 29 people who were on the boat were thrown overboard due to the force of the impact.
