TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to have a packed agenda during his working visit to Japan and South Korea from March 29 to April 2, 2026.
In Japan, Prabowo will begin his visit by attending a state luncheon with Emperor Naruhito. Additionally, he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
The Japanese government has stated that this visit is a moment to strengthen the comprehensive and strategic partnership between the two countries. This visit also marks Prabowo’s first official visit to Japan since taking office as president.
After Japan, Prabowo will continue his trip to South Korea from March 31 to April 2, 2026. There, he is scheduled to meet with President Lee Jae Myung.
During the meeting, the two leaders will discuss various strategic cooperation, ranging from trade, investment, defense and security industries, to artificial intelligence (AI) development. In addition, issues concerning infrastructure, shipbuilding, nuclear energy, and energy transition are also on the agenda.
Not only in the economic and technological sectors, Prabowo and Lee will also discuss cultural cooperation and efforts to strengthen relations between the ASEAN region and South Korea.
On a global level, the two countries also plan to discuss issues related to international security, including the situation in the Korean Peninsula and the West Asia region.
