Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter Walk 🇯🇵 Japan’s Stunning Historic Canal Town (Okayama)
Join in on a relaxing walking tour of the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, one of the most beautiful preserved historical districts in Japan.
Located in Kurashiki, this area dates back to the Edo Period (1603–1868) when Kurashiki flourished as an important rice distribution centre for the Tokugawa Shogunate.
During this walk you’ll see:
• The famous canal
• Traditional white-walled merchant storehouses (kura)
• Historic streets preserved from the Edo period
• Small cafes, museums and craft shops
• Scenic bridges and traditional boats
The district remains largely unchanged for centuries and is now one of the most photographed historical towns in Japan.
If you enjoyed our YouTube Short of Kurashiki, this is the walk-through version showing the district in much more detail.
📍 Filmed March 2026 in Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
