A lost deer captured in the western Japanese prefecture of Osaka has finally found a home at a campground in the prefecture.
The male deer was caught on Wednesday on the grounds of a police facility in Osaka City after being spotted in residential areas and a park from Saturday.
The deer was then taken to an animal control center while city officials looked for a place to shelter it.
Officials first contacted neighboring Nara Prefecture, as the deer may have traveled from Nara Park.
But Nara officials said it would be difficult for the prefecture to accept the animal, so Osaka City officials looked for a place in Osaka Prefecture.
A privately run campground in Nose Town in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture then agreed to accept the deer.
At around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, it was loaded into a vehicle in a cage, and transported out of the city.
After arriving at the campground shortly before 4 p.m., the deer was taken to a fenced-off area, where it slowly stepped out of the cage, sniffing the grass.
The president of a spa resort that runs the campground says Osaka City officials approached it about taking in the animal, as it had kept deer on its premises until several years ago.
The president says he is happy to be able to offer the deer a home because, after seeing the news, he had been hoping to give it a place where it can live without stress.
