TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — HTC on Tuesday announced a virtual Osaka Castle experience developed in partnership with Japanese media groups.
HTC said it teamed up with NHK, NHK Promotions, and NTT Docomo Studio & Live to create “Samurai’s Dream: The Ghosts of Osaka Castle,” per CNA. The project combines cultural storytelling with immersive technology to bring audiences into Japan’s Warring States period.
Built on HTC’s Viverse platform, it uses extended reality and precise positioning technology to allow users to move freely within a virtual recreation of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s castle, per Liberty Times.
HTC said the project marks its first international co-production with the Japanese partners, combining NHK’s expertise in historical research and visual production with HTC’s technology.
Viverse General Manager Lin Chun-wu (林俊吳) said immersive entertainment is evolving from “watching content” to “stepping into stories.” He added that HTC will continue expanding such experiences in markets around the world.
