Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae returned to Japan on Saturday after concluding her visit to the United States, with the White House releasing dozens of photos on its official website showing her meeting and dining with President Donald Trump on March 19.

One striking image shows Takaichi exuberantly raising both hands in a gesture of joy, while another captures the two leaders with their arms around each other’s waists as they entered the White House.

Former Japanese ambassador to the US Sugiyama Shinsuke praised the visit, noting that Takaichi had the opportunity to personally explain Japan’s stance on China to Trump. He predicted that this would help ensure Trump’s subsequent visit to China would not negatively impact Japan.
