JR East and KDDI to trial autonomous bus services in Tokyo
East Japan Railway and KDDI will begin a public trial of autonomous bus services in Tokyo from 28 March to 10 May 2026, as part of efforts to support future urban mobility. The trial will operate two routes connecting Takanawa Gateway City with the Takeshiba area, including a circular route within the development and a longer inter-area service. The buses will run daily during the trial period and will be available for passenger use free of charge.
