Shinkansen Bullet Train from Fukuoka to Nagasaki Peace Park, Atomic Bomb Museum and Biker Haircuts!

Episode 16 of the UPTIME Journey Across Japan saw us take the train from Hakata Station in Fukuoka to Nagasaki via a change at Takeo-Onsen catching the Superexpress KAMOME Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen which is a route first opened in 2022.

Yesterday and in the previous episode we were floating around the canals of Yanagawa, you can watch that episode here: https://youtu.be/ms-uORuvndg

Find out how to buy return Shinkansen tickets at the machines in Hakata Station with some tips about how these tickets work when passing through the turnstiles.

We also travel to the Nagasaki Peace Park using one of the many Trams on their network, a cheap and convenient way to get around the city.

Follow our day out as we visit the Nagasaki Peace Park, Atomic Bomb Museum, one legged Torrid Gate at the Sanno Shinto Shrine, take lunch in a local park, and get our hair cut by a Biker in his Barbers shop with his motorcycle sitting alongside the chair!

You’ll also get to see the largest Hot Air Balloon Festival in Asia as we pass by the Saga Balloon site traveling to and from Takeo-Onsen.

Christmas celebrations start early in Japan as you will see with the lights at JR HAKATA City Square just turned on for the first time on 2nd November!

We finished our day and this episode with a well earned Sushi conveyor dinner at Sushiro in Fukuoka.

Please subscribe to the UPTIME Journey channel to follow our travels across Japan and elsewhere during 2026.
