Twenty students from Hans Price Academy recently spent 10 days in Tokyo, visiting their partner school Shinagawa Shouei Junior High School as part of a growing partnership between the two schools.

The cultural and educational exchange allowed students to deliver English lessons and immerse themselves in Japanese life while exploring Tokyo and Kyoto.

Sian Angell, raising standards leader at Hans Price Academy and trip lead, said: “The visit to Shinagawa Shouei Junior High School was an incredible opportunity for our students to expand their horizons.

“I am confident this cohort of students will continue to build connections abroad and look to study in Japan in the future.

“We could not be more proud of the work they put in to making the trip a huge success.”

During the visit, students took part in Japanese traditions, taught English to their peers, and developed friendships that extended beyond the classroom.

Ms Angell said: “By teaching English to Japanese students and learning about Japanese traditions, our students not only developed their language skills but also built lasting friendships and gained valuable insights into a different culture.”

The trip, which was the third in the schools’ growing exchange programme, included workshops and cultural activities such as a Samurai masterclass, a chopstick-making session, and a Disney visit.

Students also enjoyed a two-day trip to Kyoto, travelling by bullet train.

The programme aims to foster global understanding through meaningful educational experiences and continues to strengthen ties between the two schools.
